Description

The Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting operations, supervise staff, and prepare financial statements. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy of financial data and supports the CFO in assessing the organization's financial and operational performance. Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Accounting Department, ensuring smooth and accurate operations.
  • Assist the CFO in the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring they adhere to GAAP.
  • Prepare journal entries and monthly account reconciliations.
  • Supervise and review month-end responsibilities completed by accounting staff.
  • Monitor and track grant expenses and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Develop standards and processes to improve financial management.
  • Hire, train, and motivate accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
  • Ensure efficiency within the department while maintaining accuracy.
  • Coordinate and assist in agency financial audits.
  • Lead the implementation of financial technology solutions to enhance system functionality.
  • Ensure adherence to agency policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role (nonprofit experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, especially GAAP.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (experience with [specific software] is a plus).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and developing staff.

Physical Requirements

  • Quiet to moderate noise level in the work environment.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, with occasional standing, walking, or light lifting.
  • Manual dexterity required for computer use, including keyboarding.
  • Ability to talk, hear, and have close vision.
