Overview

The Director of Strategy and Intelligence will support the Chief Operating Officers in the strategy and growth of the Markets and each COO’s division. This role will be responsible for leading Market Strategy Program Directors to support each Market in becoming or maintaining their role as the market leader while staying aligned with the System strategy.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Business Development

  • Creative and curious leader who leads the team that is the key to providing critical insights to strategy and organizational leaders
  • Must be very well versed in healthcare data, strategy, industry trends, and forward thinking
  • Creates a culture of bi-directional thought leadership – those who create ideas and share upwards and take ideas from above and execute
  • Leads team that delivers the following:
  • Focused on providing strategic insights sitting at the intersection of consumer intelligence, market intelligence, and business intelligence.
  • Part of a centralized intelligence function to support system, ambulatory, market, and service line growth.
  • Well versed in cost management as it aligns with patient volumes and revenue generation.
  • Builds expert level knowledge and support with market share, service line, referral, and demographic data.
  • Partners with relevant system services functions on patient experience, clinical, consumer insights, etc. data.
  • Supports leadership to identify appropriate new services and develop business plans, including cost benefit analysis and monitoring for capital expenditures/budgets, and implementation of approved programs with appropriate input.
  • Monitor competitors, healthcare industry trends (macro and micro), market trends, payor trends, and healthcare-adjacent entities.
  • Build out proformas and business plans to support key growth initiatives
  • Knowledge of and ability to prepare necessary CON materials
  • Support key inputs for market and system planning
  • Monitor regulatory, consumer, market, competitive, and business intelligence in partnership with analytics, marketing, and government affairs
  • Leverage data and partner with the appropriate strategy or operations leader to identify new business, maximize existing business, and optimize partnerships
  • Influence targeted growth plans with market and system leaders
  • Key point of contact for market share data with consistent data and insights provided to relevant leaders
  • Build and maintain competitor analysis and competitor profiles
  • Provide Executive Director of Ambulatory Strategy and Business Development, Executive Director Market Strategy and Business Development, Executive Director of Service Line Strategy, and VP of Strategy and Business Development with necessary data or outputs
  • Act as an expert in translating relevant data into actionable plans to drive growth
  • Understand key data sources in healthcare and how each data source’s relevance in planning
  • Team that supports the strategic execution of growth and partnerships from initial conversations and due diligence to full onboarding. There is opportunity to create a much more standard process and will decrease consultant spend
  • Project manages the implementation and execution of key strategic or business development projects
  • Initiates on-going market research to identify strategic growth opportunities and potential disruptors through visioning and environmental monitoring activities.
  • Assists in the development of collateral and research to inform Business Plans, Business Development opportunities, and inform/execute on key strategies

Regulatory, Industry, and Organizational Monitoring

  • Maintain expert level knowledge of changing trends within the healthcare industry
  • Maintain knowledge of legislation, payor shifts, and consumer behavior changes and how they impact healthcare
  • Continuously monitor best practices and strategic moves made by disruptors or other reputable healthcare organizations
  • Partner with necessary teams within governmental affairs to understand impacts

Talent Management

  • Build and grow a team Business Development Strategists and Program Managers to support key market leaders with useful expertise and market knowledge
  • Ensure support structure is positioned to delivery effectively and prevent siloing between hospital and ambulatory team
  • Responsible for recruitment of top talent and meet program needs with a customer focused mentality.
  • Ensures all team members are oriented and properly trained.
  • Implements effective performance management and staff development processes.
  • Establishes effective mechanisms of communication with staff and key stakeholders to foster an environment of openness, trust and teamwork.
  • Assists in the annual budget process.
  • Analyzes and requests staff expenditures within budget parameters
  • Provide leadership and direction that ensures top of licensure duties for all team members

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business or related discipline required

Master’s in healthcare administration, Master’s in business administration, or other healthcare related degree.

Experience:

Minimum 5 Years’ Experience In Healthcare

5+ years in healthcare strategy, finance, or analytics; 1+ year of leading market and growth analyses
