Description

Position Summary: The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of product technology projects by assessing and evaluating packaging for new projects (NPD), changes in current packaging components and determining right packaging components for a product. This will provide the company with world-class capability to launch and manufacture skincare, suncare and pharmaceutical products. This position will be involved from the early stages through Post Start-Up Support in cooperation with RID, Strategic Planning, Innovation Management, Procurement, Quality and Operations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Understanding of innovation management workflows in the personal care business
  • Assess and evaluate packaging for new projects (NPD), changes in current packaging components and determining right packaging components for a product.
  • Act as key liaison between RID/Operation/ Production to support package for formula development, bulk and finished goods.
  • Provide innovation support with new packaging ideas.
  • Provide support, as key packaging engineer, for line trials with different departments for accurate packaging components and equipment compatibility for products.
  • Responsible for evaluating and determining the right packaging for the product along with the compatibility of product in packaging,
  • Responsible for closely working with RID, Operations and Quality Assurance to evaluate and determine compatibility of packaging components for line trial and filling with equipment and resources available at Swiss American, to set up for successful production runs.
  • Support Quality (Assurance or Control) with developing equipment specifications for – e.g fill weight, torque, seal test, crimping and setting target for commercial production runs.
  • Manage the development and testing of new packaging and quality improvement to existing packaging.
  • Lead and track execution of packaging for new product launches and share learnings from line trials with Operations.
  • Interact with outside partners, clients and vendors in the consumer goods, personal care industry, and in-house teams.
  • Coordinate packaging components and materials with the packaging and filling, RID and Quality Assurance teams.
  • Others may be assigned.


Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant engineering or R&D field, ideally within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry or a related sector.
  • Previous experience in CPGs, especially in skin care Home, Beauty, and Personal Care product technologies.
  • Proven experience in process or packaging engineering,
  • Experience working in a GMP environment with OTCs
  • Knowledge of chemical process/ packing equipment principles and practices as well as hygienic and sustainability design.
  • Project and time management skills to coordinate multiple work streams and timelines for projects.

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written

  • Understanding of Packaging systems, in general, and integration into plant manufacturing systems for personal care and OTCs
