Director of Program Management - OFFICE BASED OPPORTUNITY

Neurona Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company based in South San Francisco focused on the development of cell-based therapies for neurological diseases. Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Director of Program Management to lead our program management efforts. This is an exciting and visible program management opportunity to progress the most advanced neurologic cell therapy in clinic for epilepsy through later stage development. The ideal candidate is proficient, self-motivated, excels in a rapidly evolving environment, and has a strong understanding of drug development.

This key role requires a strong background in project management within the biotech industry, and adept partnering with key stakeholders across functions to help translate program strategy into a robust and efficient execution plan. The successful individual is expected to help “make things happen" via productive collaborations in an organization rapidly developing its capabilities and infrastructure as it progresses into mid to late-stage clinical development for its lead program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members and coordinate across functional areas to establish a robust program strategy ensuring synergy between strategic and operational activities
  • Develop and execute integrated project plans with up-to-date assumptions (accounting for goals, key deliverables, and risks) to enable accurate project, financial and business planning
  • Assess alternative development scenarios (costs, timelines, risks, and project strategy) as per business need
  • Manage project teams through resource planning, timeline development, risk management, finance, and budget planning
  • Ensure program risks are proactively identified and managed; working with subject matter experts to ensure appropriate mitigation plans are in place
  • Design, communicate and implement project plans to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget Monitor progress of projects against plan; define and collect metrics to track progress and measure key deliverables
  • Ensure program risks are proactively identified and managed
  • Work with subject matter experts to ensure mitigation/contingency planning is in place, lead problem-solving, and decision-making to resolve and minimize impact of risks/problems
  • Maintains up-to-the-minute project action plans and serves as a resource to stakeholders
  • Communicate information and updates to internal and external stakeholders throughout the project duration
  • Ensures all stakeholders receive the required level of detail commensurate with their role
  • Identify, recommend, and implement opportunities for streamlining team and business processes
  • Ensure senior management approval of changes to strategy, budget or timelines
  • Lead project team meeting and work groups. Ensure effective information management including prioritizing topics for discussion, ensuring meeting objectives are aligned and achieved, documenting and communicating decisions to key stakeholders and ensuring action items are assigned and completed in a timely manner

Required Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemistry or a similar scientific discipline; Master’s degree a plus
  • 10+ years of project management experience in the life sciences industry
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical product development phases and the role that different functions play
  • Experience with project management tools (MS Project, SmartSheet, etc.), advanced Excel abilities
  • Proven project or program management experience within the biotech/pharma industry; experience managing projects within Cell/Gene/Therapy and/or Gene Editing preferred
  • Certification (PMP or similar) and/or formal training in Project Management is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills; able to lead cross functional teams and effectively communicate to key stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Proven ability to establish, maintain, and lead high performing project teams
  • Able to hold team members and vendors accountable to execute on time and within budget
  • Knowledgeable of regulatory deliverables in U.S.
  • Highly organized and process driven
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary biotech environment
  • Six-sigma green belt certification with practical experience of implementation is a plus
