Accounts Receivable Specialist, Washington, DC - $20-30/hr

Immediate need for a Accounts Receivable Specialist. This is a REMOTE contract to hire role paying $20-30/hr. Upon conversion, salary would increase to $70k-80k.

Job Overview:

The AR Specialist is responsible for managing and resolving overdue accounts, contacting clients for payment, and reconciling accounts in a timely manner. The role focuses on ensuring the collection of outstanding payments while maintaining positive customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage Delinquent Accounts: Contact customers with overdue accounts to secure payment while maintaining professionalism
• Negotiate Payment Plans: Work with clients to establish payment arrangements that meet company guidelines
• Monitor Payment Activity: Track payment schedules and follow up on missed payments
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile client accounts and resolve discrepancies related to payments or billings
• Record Maintenance: Accurately document communication with customers in the company’s database
• Collaborate with Internal Teams: Work closely with the billing and customer service departments to resolve issues and improve the collections process
• Prepare Reports: Generate reports on collection activities, account status, and payment histories for management review
• Compliance: Ensure collection practices comply with company policies and legal regulations, including fair debt collection practices
  
  

Qualifications:

• Education: Associates or Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years of Collections experience
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or a related field
• Technical Skills: MS Office (especially Excel)
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to negotiate effectively and handle sensitive financial situations
• Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple accounts and transactions with accuracy
• Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of handling complex account issues and resolving disputes diplomatically
• Customer Service: Ability to maintain positive relationships with customers while ensuring payment compliance
  
  

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume collections environment
• Knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite) a plus
• Experience in media publication industry a plus
