Job Description
The Staff Educator works with Patient Access management and staff to assess, plan, implement and evaluate departmental orientation, continuing and in-service education. This position will work closely with the Departmental Director, Revenue Cycle Analyst and Patient Access Managers to identify training initiatives for internal systems for all of Patient Access. The Staff Educator will coordinate and perform training for staff on new or existing software and departmental processes in either a one on one or classroom environment and will assist with implementation of training on new systems. Maintains educational documentation associated with systems and processes, using root cause analysis to identify training opportunities. Acts as a resource for Patient Access process improvement initiatives, develops and maintains departmental procedures and training related to such improvements. May work independently or may work with other Departmental Information Technology Specialists and staff to satisfy staff education issues. Possesses working knowledge in the business unit supported as well as a solid understanding of the adult education processes relating to IT systems and processes.
Responsibilities
Maintains competencies related to all aspects of Enterprise Scheduling and Registration functions, working with staff to maintain departmental scorecard accuracy rate
Builds innovative classroom curriculum for revenue cycle processes
Participates in strategic planning workgroups
Develops, designs, publishes and maintains training manuals, job aides, handouts, and/or visual materials for front-end and back-end revenue cycle functions
Creation and implementation of custom workflow processes and procedures to ensure the success of the organization
Provides leadership in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of educational curriculum for Patient Access and Enterprise Scheduling which also includes Patient Accounting staff online curriculum assignments
Serves as a productive member of the Patient Access management team performing root cause analysis for process improvement and training initiatives for the department
Develops and maintains training materials
Provides educational services to all staff while meeting special needs as identified by management team
Demonstrates willingness to be flexible in training approach, timing, presentation and materials
Reviews Customer Service surveys to determine improvement opportunities
Shares feedback regarding customer service with Director for follow up
Focuses training efforts on new employees and serves as mentor for the first days of their employment
Provides cross-departmental training for non-departmental staff performing registration duties
Reviews productivity and accuracy databases to increase accuracy standards
Identifies system and process issues contributing to low accuracy and low productivity
Maintains educational systems
Evaluates work flow processes and makes recommendations
Creates personal learning plan
Qualifications
Required Education: High School Diploma / GED
Preferred Education: Associates Degree or Higher
Required Experience: Must have three (3) to five (5) years of registration or Business Unit work experience with significant exposure to Information Technology driven processes. Customer service and team-building skills. Technical experience with word processing, excel spreadsheet, and database software packages. Experience related to data verification, procedures development, and users training. Must be team oriented, accountable, self-motivated, and disciplined with strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Certifications and Licensures: CHAA or other professional certification
