Position Purpose

The Director Marketing & Creative Services leads the creative direction and support for the Exclusive and International Sales Teams by creating strategic marketing initiatives and brand campaigns to drive brand success. This role oversees the development and execution of all digital and social marketing activations, as well as identifies market and channel-specific tools and promotional opportunities across existing brand portfolios and new, emerging brands.

Functional Responsibility

  • Oversees, directs, and manages departmental activities and team performance
  • Drives and models company culture and holds self, peers, and direct reports accountable for demonstrating a constructive company culture through influential, personal behavior and actions
  • Develops and implements clearly defined operational and individual goals to develop employees, achieve productivity levels, and to attain the company's strategic plan
  • Researches best practices, stays abreast of industry trends, and maintains awareness of regulatory changes to ensure compliance and continually improve operations
  • Executes departmental financial objectives by preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective action
  • Achieves departmental results to ensure the effective delivery of the strategic plan
  • Develops staffing needs; attracts, motivates, and retains a workforce with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities to achieve goals and objectives
  • Promotes and ensures a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
  • Leads the way and prepares departmental staff for success in a continually changing environment
  • Fosters a work environment that encourages creative thinking, promotes flexibility, and drives innovation
  • Addresses employee issues, concerns, and complaints in an objective and confidential manner; notifies HR Business Partner and keeps immediate manager informed as appropriate
  • Ensures compliance and consistent application of company policies, initiatives, and decisions
  • Coaches, guides, and develops direct reports; fully engages in the GPS (Performance Management) process; provides high-quality feedback, and ensures proper GPS documentation of employee performance, recognition, and deficiencies

Essential Duties

  • Directs and implements the annual and 3 Year Strategic Plan to align with and support the company’s overarching strategic imperatives and growth objectives in both International and Exclusive
  • Manages the complex new product development process for Exclusive Brands including assisting and overseeing Development, Final Artwork & Validation, Implementation, Launch, Measurement and Discontinuation phases of brand life cycle management
  • Oversees NPD project management to ensure cross-functional deliverables are met on-time and according to project plan
  • Leads efforts in cost and complexity reduction and suggests alternative materials and route-to-market where needed to minimize potential risks while providing highest level of quality
  • Works alongside Creative Manager on Brand Standard Development for all Current and New Projects
  • Provides creative direction to Exclusive and International market sales teams, and partners to ensure successful execution of marketing initiatives and campaigns
  • Works alongside Creative Manager and VP on sourcing opportunities with external graphic artists, agencies and designers for DFW projects and oversees bids for best fit and cost savings
  • Develops and adapts brand messaging, visual assets, and marketing campaigns to resonate both in US along with International Markets - where diverse cultural preferences and market nuances exist
  • Develops and partners with Trade Marketing content for trade-specific, multilingual marketing collateral, including sell sheets, product catalogs, International price book, and distributor presentations, to support sales efforts with current and launch of new brands across international markets
  • Creates and assists execution of visual content for digital marketing campaigns, social media content, and email newsletters targeted at trade and consumers in specific international markets to increase brand awareness and drive online engagement
  • Designs digital sales tools and resources, such as interactive product catalogs, virtual tastings, and online training modules, to support distributor sales teams and retail staff in promoting wine offerings effectively
  • Partners with Director Digital Marketing to create content to optimize e-commerce platforms and online retail channels to enhance the digital shopping experience for international customers and drive sales conversion
  • Designs visually engaging content for sales presentations and pitch decks tailored to the needs and preferences of international distributors, importers, and retail partners, highlighting key selling points, market insights, and growth opportunities
  • Collaborates with brand product development teams to design and adapt product packaging formats, and branding strategies to meet compliance standards while creating optimal appeal in international markets
  • Creates visually appealing trade show booth designs and layouts that effectively showcase the company's wine portfolio, brand story, and unique selling propositions to international trade professionals and buyers
  • Produces branded signage, banners, and promotional materials for use at trade shows, industry conferences, and networking events to enhance brand visibility and attract foot traffic to the company's booth
  • Develops webinar content, virtual trade events, and multimedia resources to deliver engaging and informative virtual experiences that drive brand awareness, product knowledge, and sales opportunities in international markets

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Marketing, Digital Media or related field
  • 10+ years of years of directly related experience in advertising design
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with 3+ years supervisory experience
  • Wine industry experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Leadership skills to partner with internal and external resources to accomplish the goals set out by the company; ability to influence others and drive results through collaboration
  • Classical marketing and business / financial acumen as the foundation for managing brands within a strategic framework
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, creative, and organizational skills, demonstrated by the ability to make timely and sound business decisions
  • Must be proactive, curious, and confident in suggesting both new and different executions as well as
  • Advanced understanding of branding, marketing, and advertising
  • Possess a working understanding of related digital disciplines such as User Experience, Content Strategy & Creation, Production, etc.
  • Strategic thinking; ability to craft the brief, lead ideation sessions, and strategically direct the work
  • Excellent planning, organization, communication, and presentation skills
  • Advanced computer and design skills including MS Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Creator (Illustrator, Photo Shop, InDesign)

Working Conditions

  • General office environment with occassional travel
  • Required to drive automotive vehicle or equipment

California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is a Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $139,182.96 to $217,706.16. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
