Position Summary And Primary Responsibilities.

A Bethlehem family is seeking a full-time sitter to care for their 3 children (ages 2.5 years old, 11 months, and newborn) in a flexible position for 40 hours a week. The requested hours are from 6am to 6pm with the opportunity to make your own schedule and have free time in the middle of the day to equal 40 hours a week. The family needs support starting at 6am for helping get the kids ready for school (clothes, breakfast, personal hygiene), driving to drop off at school, and afterwards fulfilling some household chores including laundry, housekeeping, and meal prep for the kids. The family also needs evening support including picking the children up from school, feeding them, unpacking their school bags, and packing their lunches for the next day. There is also a small dog in the house that will need to be taken out for walks and bathroom trips.

The candidate must be willing to drive. Having a vehicle that can accommodate 3 children in the backseat (with 3 car seats) is preferred but not required to apply. The children attend 2 separate schools so the candidate will need to pick up and drop off at both schools. There is also a potential need for occasional full-day coverage in the event of no school days and/or sick days. The family is looking for someone punctual and reliable. Estimated start date is in November with the possibility of a sooner date if the candidate is available. Rate is $25-30 per hour depending on experience.

Minimum Requirements

In order to be eligible for the Nanny position, a qualified candidate must fulfill the following minimum requirements:

  • Have a High School Diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Have 3 plus years of childcare experience, including infant care, or related professional work experience

(such as daycare, teaching, etc.)

  • Successful completion of Mandated Reporter Training
  • Successful completion of, or willingness to successfully complete car seat safety training prior to start date.
  • Background check demonstrating suitability for this position caring for young children without supervision.
  • Possess valid CPR and First-Aid Certifications or be willing to obtain or renew as a condition of hire.
  • Proficient knowledge of home safety.
  • Possess sound moral character and kind disposition suitable for caring for children of all ages without supervision.
  • Be physically fit, energetic, agile, and dexterous.
  • Provide proof of current vaccinations including but not limited to Td or Tdap, MMR, HepA, HepB, PCV, influenza
  • Handle age-appropriate care and responsibilities of children including:
  • Affinity for pets (dog, cat)
  • Possess valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record demonstrating proficient driving skills.

Essential Job Functions

  • Creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for the child
  • Reliably and predictably attending work and being punctual.
  • Safely bathing and dressing young children.
  • Disciplining the child according to the family’s preferred parenting style.
  • Arranging appropriate playdates and outings.
  • Engaging in indoor and outdoor play.
  • Researching, planning, and engaging in educational activities and crafts.
  • Laundering children’s clothes, bedding, etc.
  • Planning meals, preparing food, and/or feeding the child
  • Reading to the child
  • Organizing bedrooms/toys.
  • Administering medicine with parents’ consent, if necessary.
  • Performing light housekeeping such as dishwashing, grocery shopping, tidying up, vacuuming, etc.
  • Performing several childcare and childcare-related tasks at once.
  • Engaging in physical activities with children over uneven and various terrain.
  • Preventing harm to the child(ren), including but not limited to the ability to take swift action to prevent harm or remove children from potentially harmful circumstances.
  • Lifting 25 lbs.
  • Using hands and fingers to handle or feel.
  • Standing/bending/stretching/reaching/kneeling/crawling, etc.
  • Working with and caring for pets (one dog, one cat)
  • Maintaining logs for the parents.
  • Safely and legally operating a motor vehicle to carpool, or drive children to school, activities, medical appointments, playdates or run errands.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the family.
