Job Overview

The Idaho Conservation Corps (ICC) is seeking motivated and dynamic individuals for the position of Youth Conservation Crew Leader. In this pivotal role, you will co-lead and manage conservation crews of nine youth aged 16-18, fostering an environment of teamwork and personal development across the stunning landscapes of Idaho. This seasonal opportunity, spanning from May 21, 2021, to August 21, 2021, is designed for those passionate about youth engagement and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-lead, manage, and supervise conservation crews while engaging in hands-on projects on public and private lands.
  • Facilitate daily lessons centered around an accredited outdoor education curriculum.
  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all program participants at all times.
  • Complete conservation-oriented projects to high standards, motivating and guiding youth crews in the process.
  • Provide meaningful mentorship to young individuals, offering constructive feedback and fostering growth.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Current Wilderness First Aid or higher, alongside CPR certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record over the past three years.
  • Recreational or professional outdoor experience is required.
  • Willingness to frequently operate an ICC vehicle.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Compensation of $250 for successful completion of a 10-12 day staff training.
  • Daily pay of \(98/day, increasing to \)100/day with Wilderness First Responder certification, with an estimated earning potential of $6,860 for the term.
  • Scheduled days off every other weekend and 5-6 days off during mid-summer break.
