Job Overview

Join the Idaho Conservation Corps (ICC) as a Conservation Field Staff Leader, where you will play a crucial role in managing and mentoring a team of young adults aged 19 and up. This seasonal position, spanning an 8-week program, provides an exceptional opportunity to engage in impactful conservation projects across the beautiful landscapes of Idaho, starting and concluding in Boise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise conservation crews in executing hands-on projects on both public and private lands.
  • Foster a structured camp environment, facilitating group meals and outdoor education initiatives.
  • Maintain discipline, resolve conflicts, and uplift crew morale while providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Oversee the physical and emotional safety of all participants, ensuring a secure and supportive atmosphere.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between project sponsors and the local community, managing project implementation effectively.
  • Conduct daily educational sessions based on the ICC's environmental curriculum, tracking participants’ progress throughout the program.

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to lift and move loads up to 70 pounds and to backpack over challenging terrains.
  • Good judgment with effective decision-making skills.
  • Experience in working collaboratively with diverse groups.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess current Wilderness First Aid (or higher) and CPR certifications.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the past three years.
  • Recreational or professional outdoor experience preferred.
  • Experience or desire to work with diverse populations.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Competitive daily compensation of $106 during the field season.
  • Additional training compensation of $250.
  • A performance bonus of $2 per day is available for field staff holding current WFR/EMT/WEMT certifications.
