About Etched
Etched is building AI chips that are hard-coded for individual model architectures. Our first product (Sohu) only supports transformers, but has an order of magnitude more throughput and lower latency than a B200. With Etched ASICs, you can build products that would be impossible with GPUs, like real-time video generation models and extremely deep chain-of-thought reasoning.
Our GTM team needs a personable, product-focused, technical counterpart, and our engineering team needs detailed technical feedback from customers to inform their engineering decisions. That's where you come in!
Representative Projects
Ideal experience
How we're different:
Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.
We are a fully in-person team in Cupertino, and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.

Representative Projects
- Help set the technical roadmap and vision for our Sohu servers and subsequent products by connecting customer interest and technical feasibility.
- Working with GTM to identify what customer materials are required and how to present that information in a way that highlights our capabilities and informs the customer.
- Serving as the technical voice in sales meetings: describing the underlying architecture of our product, what workloads we support and what performance to expect, generating excitement and demonstrating credibility to engineering teams
- Synthesizing customer and user feedback and sharing it with the company
- Building relationships with and gathering data from the "ground level" of customers: data center operators, low-level software engineers, the day-to-day users of our product
- Running customer demos of the emulation platform; making and recommending changes to the documentation and use cases to the engineering team
- Figuring out product implementation details, such as certifications required and different liquid-to-air configurations based on data center requirements
- Technical depth: Deeply understands (or able to quickly learn) how AI chips work from an application layer, software stack, ML research, and data center perspective
Ideal experience
- Experience working in the weeds of a customer or competitor: AI application-layer company, AI chip company, or hyperscale/GPU cloud company
- Experience closing deals and/or working with customers, ideally serving as the technical lead for meetings with both executives and engineers
- Nice to have: able to generate professional customer materials, reports, presentations, etc. without assistance
