Job Description

Quality/ Research & Development Manager in Food Manufacturing Key Responsibilities:

Quality Management:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular quality audits and inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Lead investigations into product quality issues, implementing corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality standards are met from sourcing to production.

Research and Development:

  • Manage the development of new products from concept through commercialization, ensuring alignment with market trends and customer needs.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations and testing to assess product quality and acceptability.
  • Analyze product formulations and processes to optimize quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to identify opportunities for product innovation and improvement.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of quality assurance and R&D professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Provide training and support to staff on quality standards, testing procedures, and regulatory compliance.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of quality processes, research findings, and product development activities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders regarding quality performance and R&D initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

Quality Assurance/ Research & Development Manager in food manufacturing qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance and research & development within the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality standards, and best practices.
  • Proven experience in product development, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Not for New York City Applicants.
