Job Title: Sales Director – Stens/Xtreme

Job Summary: As the Sales Director for the Stens outdoor power equipment business, you will be responsible for developing and executing the overall sales strategy, driving significant revenue growth, and leading multiple sales teams across various channels. This role is crucial in shaping the company's sales vision, fostering key strategic partnerships, and ensuring Stens' market leadership in the outdoor power equipment aftermarket parts industry. You will report directly to the Stens Business Leader and play a pivotal role in the company's overall success. The ideal candidate will possess extensive sales leadership experience, strategic vision, and a proven track record of driving substantial revenue growth in a B2B environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Sales Vision and Strategy: Develop and articulate a comprehensive, long-term sales vision aligned with the company's overall business strategy. Lead the creation and execution of multi-year sales plans to achieve aggressive growth targets.
  • Market Expansion: Identify and penetrate new markets, segments, and sales channels. Develop strategies to expand the company's footprint both geographically and across product lines.

Revenue and Business Growth

  • Revenue Optimization: Set and achieve ambitious revenue targets. Develop and implement strategies to significantly increase market share, average deal size, and customer lifetime value across all sales channels.
  • Data-Driven Strategy: Leverage advanced analytics and business intelligence tools to drive data-informed decision making across all aspects of sales operations. Use data to identify trends, optimize sales processes, and make strategic decisions about resource allocation and market focus.
  • Pricing Strategy and Profitability: Collaborate with Finance and Product Management to develop sophisticated pricing strategies that maximize profitability while maintaining competitiveness. Implement value-based selling approaches to improve margins.
  • Market Intelligence and Competitive Positioning: Establish systems to gather, analyze, and act upon market intelligence. Use these insights to refine sales strategies, outmaneuver competitors, and identify new growth opportunities within the outdoor power equipment aftermarket.
  • Sales Forecasting and Planning: Develop and maintain accurate, long-term sales forecasts. Use these to inform inventory management, production planning, and overall business strategy in collaboration with other departments.
  • Key Account Management: Oversee the development and execution of strategic account plans for top-tier customers. Personally engage with the most critical accounts to ensure their needs are met and to maximize long-term value.

Organizational Development

  • Sales Organization Design: Structure and continually optimize the sales organization to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. This includes designing territories, defining roles, and establishing career pathways.
  • Leadership Development: Mentor and develop inside and outside sales representatives. Implement succession planning to ensure a strong pipeline of sales leadership talent.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with department heads in Product Management, Finance, Customer Service, and Operations to ensure alignment of sales strategies with overall business objectives.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of sales experience, preferably in the outdoor power equipment or related industry.
  • Minimum of two years of sales management experience.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proven track record of consistently exceeding revenue targets and driving significant year-over-year growth.
  • Strong understanding of multi-channel sales strategies, including direct sales, distribution networks, and e-commerce.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large, diverse sales teams across multiple regions or countries.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis and a proven track record of using data to drive strategic decision-making and achieve measurable results.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.

  • Strategic thinking and ability to translate complex market dynamics into actionable sales strategies.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in P&L management and strategic budgeting.

  • Experience with large-scale digital transformation projects in sales organizations.
  • Advanced skills in data interpretation and visualization, with the ability to translate complex data sets into actionable insights for both the sales team and executive leadership.
  • Prior experience with the 80/20 operating model.

Travel Expectations

  • This is a remote position, with travel by air and car expected. The average anticipated volume of travel is 50% to visit customers, attend industry events, and visit company locations. Some months will be very light with travel while others will be heavier.
