The General Dynamics Land Systems Summer 2025 Internship Program provides an opportunity for students looking to start or continue the transition from academia into industry. Our three-month internship assignments provide compensation based on area of study and class standing, and have the students embedded in key functional areas of our business, getting real-world experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals. As part of your summer experience, you will join our team and use your education, experience, and creativity to make an impact.

Responsibilities To Anticipate For This Role

  • Support software development and in-field testing of vehicles.
  • Gain an understanding of the system and how the software stack is deployed on a vehicle.
  • Setup and operation of the vehicles for in-field testing.
  • Application code development per direction of mentor
  • Write test procedures and perform unit/functional testing on the executable software.
  • Perform hardware/software integration along with debugging software issues during the testing phases.
  • Work with mentor(s) to further develop AI algorithms through the use of Machine Learning
  • Prepare status reports and support design/code reviews with team members.
  • Interface with other departments and business units as required to complete tasks.

Qualifications Sought

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year university or college, majoring inin computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Attained at least a Sophomore status based on university/college’s class standing requirements at the start of the internship
  • Preferred – GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be a U.S. Person (i.e. a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.)
  • Must successfully pass standard pre-employment screens and must provide an official college or university transcript from their school before their first day of employment
  • Must be able to complete a minimum of a full time, 3 month assignment

Additional Information / Desired Experience

  • Familiarity in high level programming language such as C & C++.
  • Scripting skills, including shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python, Go, Groovy, etc.
  • Comfortable supporting integration issues in a lab and on a vehicle.
  • Linux, Unix & PC experience.
  • Highly motivated performer.
  • Works well in team and individually.
  • Goal oriented/task focused.
  • Proactive attitude and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to travel; minimal travel required for this role.
