Job Summary

CenterPoint Energy is looking for an Administrative Assistant to join our Field Operations Team, located in Evansville, Indiana.

You will have the ability to: provide project support, administrative assistance and routine clerical services to Vice President, Director and office staff by performing secretarial and clerical duties.

Essential Functions

To be successful you will:

  • Handle and maintain confidential information, records, reports and personnel files.
  • Support annual budget process including data entry.
  • Prepare, verify documents, enter and reconcile such items as invoices, expense accounts, purchase cards (P-Card), etc. in accordance with corporate procedures and deadlines. Acts as custodian of purchase card(s).
  • Prepare, complete and submit requests for expense reimbursement and for payments to vendors.
  • Create and modifiy presentations, graphics, reports, spreadsheets, graphs, tables, charts, manuals, guides and flow charts, updating data as necessary and entering variance explanations.
  • Access SAP systems to process, verify or retrieve data. Creates and updates other databases and/or systems.
  • Perform office administrative tasks such as tracking attendance, entering time, managing file storage/destruction and ordering non-stock office supplies.
  • Lead or supports company initiatives such as fund-raisers, drives for non-profits and other special projects.
  • Schedule, organize and coordinate arrangements including catering for meetings, conferences, seminars, presentations, appointments and travel.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments for supervisor, manager, or director.
  • Make travel arrangements, including planning itineraries, booking flight reservations, and making hotel and transportation arrangements for department personnel.
  • Provide clerical support such as faxing, photocopying and distributing mail, documents, and reports.


Education Description

Your background includes:

  • Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.


Experience

  • Requires at least two years of related work experience.


Physical Requirements

  • Able to communicate either written and verbal communications either in person or through technical equipment such as telephone.
  • Able to demonstrate and apply the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer and common office equipment.
  • Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.


Working Conditions

  • Required to participate in CenterPoint Energy's Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
  • Able to work regular hours, with occasional or mandatory overtime; may be required to work rotating shifts.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
