Public Information Coordinator II

Job Responsibilities

This employee will assist the State Naturalist/Director of Education and Conservation Education Coordinator to develop, update, implement and evaluate conservation education programs.

Job Duties Include

• Delivering conservation education and outreach programming for K-12 schools.
• Coordinating with SCDNR outreach/education staff, environmental educators and conservation partners to deliver education programming through K-12 schools, presentations to youth audiences, special events, and through other mediums available within the Office of External Affairs.
• Delivering interpretive programming for SCDNR owned and/or managed properties including Wildlife Management Areas, State Lakes, fish hatcheries, Heritage Preserves, and other facilities to promote the conservation and enhancement of our natural and cultural resources.
• Participating in outreach events, career days, job fairs, and community events as vendor or program representative. (i.e., Palmetto Sportsmen's Classic)
• Assisting with the implementation of Project WILD within the state.
  

Minimum And Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in education, environmental science, biology, or natural resources and/or two years of experience related to the delivery of conservation and/or environmental education and outreach programs. Ability to gather, organize and present oral and written information in a clear, concise and accurate manner. Ability to establish, maintain and expand effective working relationships with internal SCDNR education, outreach, and management staff. Ability to communicate conservation stewardship ethics in an error-free manner through public presentations. Ability to prepare materials and assist in education training for natural resource conservation programs. Ability to work some nights and weekends, and participate in statewide travel.
