What You Can Expect In This Role

  • You will be performing a variety of chemical and engineering-related activities to maintain the production of sensors and analyzers.
  • You will execute production-related laboratory bench work activities, including simple and complex synthesis reactions, workups, extractions, analysis, purification and characterization and product testing using a variety of technologies including HPLC, NMR, Microscopy and UV.
  • You will work with the product support teams for process improvements and provide support to R&D projects and products before transferring to production as needed.
  • You’ll be responsible for planning and organizing the process flow to ensure product availability and inventory, per master schedule, for next-step needs.
  • You will be working on assignments that are routine in nature in which the ability to recognize deviation and non-conformance to established practice is required. Determine appropriate action using established work instructions and guidelines.
  • You will use and maintain production and laboratory equipment including, but not limited to scales, pH meters, centrifuges, mixing/blending equipment, volumetric devices, spectrophotometers, and pipets.
  • Identify and communicate deviations and nonconformances to your immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain detailed production records in strict adherence to Quality System requirements.

Shift Information: 1st Shift (Typically 8:00 am – 4:30 pm) Monday – Friday

What You Will Need To Succeed

  • You possess a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. Laboratory experience is required either through academic research or prior work.
  • You have experience and in depth knowledge of safe synthesis and lab practices.
  • You’re experienced in chemical formulation in a production environment that includes working with chemical reagents, organic solvents, acid-base solutions.
  • You can perform reactions under nitrogen.
  • Experience with chemistry experimentation and product testing using a variety of technologies including HPLC, NMR, Microscopy and UV, is preferred.
  • Experienced with heat/cold, pressure/vacuum, filtering and drying equipment is preferred.
  • You possess general academic or professional chemistry background and laboratory skills, with knowledge of wet chemistry and reagent mixing, chemical handling, and safety.
  • You can take direction and perform duties receiving general instructions for routine work and detailed instructions for new assignments.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions under direct supervision.
  • A basic to moderate understanding and fluency in the use of computers and software is helpful.
  • You can read and interpret Quality System documentation, standard operating procedures, work instructions, material safety data sheets, technical procedures, and maintenance instructions.
  • You possess the skills to multiply, divide, add and subtract in all units of measure using whole numbers and decimals following basic algebraic rules, and the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, and conversions using the metric system.
  • You’re able to effectively communicate orally and in written form before groups of peers and managers, allowing you to work effectively in a large team environment.
  • You can meet the physical requirements that go along with working as a scientist in manufacturing – bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, balancing, repetitive motions, periodic lifting of reaction flasks weighing up to 30lbs., and lifting 50lb or heavier using dollies or jacks.
