PAYROLL SPECIALIST AT PRIMEFLIGHT

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and efficient processing of the company's payroll. This role involves compiling payroll data, calculating wages and deductions, and ensuring that employees are paid correctly and on time. The specialist also maintains payroll records, responds to payroll-related inquiries, and collaborates with human resources to manage employee benefit and other deductions. Additionally, this position requires staying current with payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance with local, state and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process and manage payrolls for all employees, ensuring timely and error-free payments
  • Verify and reconcile time and attendance records to calculate hours worked, including overtime and special pay rates
  • Collaborate with HR to maintain and update employee records, including tax information, direct deposit details, and deductions
  • Calculate and process various payroll adjustments, such as bonuses, commissions, and reimbursement requests
  • Stay up to date on federal, state, and local tax regulations to ensure compliance with withholding and reporting requirements
  • Generate and distribute employee paychecks or electronic payments on scheduled pay dates
  • Address employee inquiries and resolve payroll-related issues promptly and professionally
  • Prepare and submit accurate payroll reports, tax filings, and year-end documents to relevant authorities
  • Ensure accurate tracking and deduction of garnishments, child support, and other court-ordered payments
  • Collaborate with internal teams to reconcile payroll accounts and provide financial reports
  • Process new hires, terminations, and changes in employee status in the payroll system
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and data security of payroll and employee information
  • May be assigned other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • 5 years of experience in payroll processing; specifically, California and Unions
  • Knowledgeable of payroll compliance regarding local, state and federal regulations and laws
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll systems, labor laws, and tax regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate/Highly proficient Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to work in office, onsite, Monday-Friday
  • Effectively communicate both in-person and through electronic means
  • Ability to read, write, and understand the English language, including the use of adaptive technologies or methods as necessary

  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision to judge distance and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
