WHAT YOU WILL DO

Operational - Oversees the audio expression of Saddleback Church through online weekend services, centralized audio projects, new music, and video production.

  • Audio for video mixes and post-mix for on-demand services
  • Support recording sessions for Saddleback Worship
  • Post mix online video shoots
  • Support weekly broadcast events and one-offs.
  • Assist the Central Video Production Team with audio recording for video projects
  • Mix videos created by the Central Video Production Team
  • Mixing and Mastering music for Saddleback Church (Worship, CM, SSM)
  • Lake Forest Weekend service support as needed.

Coordination and Management

  • Manage all audio assets for Saddleback Worship (demos of new songs, mixes & revisions)
  • Catalog all live music.
  • Weigh in on all final mixes pertaining to Saddleback Worship
  • Coordinate with outside engineers for mixing and mastering and manage the relationships of outside contractors and vendors.
  • Work with Saddleback Music Directors to schedule and plan studio sessions and tracking
  • Maintain the Lake Forest studio and ensure all equipment is continually functioning properly.

Research and Development

  • Participate in training campus audio technicians and volunteers.
  • Development of Saddleback Worship Audio Database
  • Look for new studios to use and high-level audio engineers to build relationships with
  • R&D on new equipment and tools for recording and tracking
  • Learning the best use and practices for all recording software and equipment
  • Recruit, train & coach staff and volunteers in the development of recording and mixing
  • Provide coaching for other audio engineers on audio resources to ensure constant growth in the field of recording.

Production

  • Manage how the music is being translated for Saddleback Worship
  • Audio production for all Saddleback Worship singles, albums and recording projects.
  • Manage all audio assets for every Saddleback Worship song.
  • Edit and mix recording sessions for releases.

What You Have Done
  • Minimum of 3 years experience recording, mixing, and mastering music and spoken word for a church or live sound environment
  • Proficiency in mixing a high number of inputs and outputs, also utilizing advanced scene management.
  • Experience as a musician or vocalist is helpful but not required.
  • High school/GED equivalent required.
  • 1 certification in primary skill set and working toward 1 certification in secondary skill set within 2 years: Audio: Avid Venue Certified – OPERATOR: LIVE SOUND, Pro Tools HD Certified – OPERATOR POST, Soundweb, QSys, SMAART, Yamaha M7 Console Certification

  • Working towards membership of industry associations: Audio Engineering Society (AES) or the Society of Professional Audio Recording Services (SPARS).
  • Proficiency in ProTools recording, mixing, and mastering.
  • Extensive knowledge of microphone placement, signal flow, mixing techniques, and studio equipment operation.
  • Experience with Yamaha Rivage Consoles
  • Computer proficiency: Apple platform, Google Workspace, Task Management tools
  • Strong team leadership and people skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to self-start and problem-solve issues in a calm and calculated manner

Saddleback Church’s pay philosophy is based on internal and external data for pay equity and budgetary considerations for effective stewardship. The minimum pay for this position is expected to be $66,560-$70,000 per year. A wage posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage for a job offer.
