Description

The IT Project Manager will manage IT large projects with a high level of complexity. The Project Manager will provide leadership and be responsible for the creation, coordination and management of a project plan for a major complex system installation or modification in a Healthcare setting. Some projects you may be working on include: Kronos Analytics; Radiology Decision Support; EHR and EMR Implementation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manages multiple projects of varying degrees of complexity and risk ranging from low to high, from inception to successful completion.
  • Effectively applies enterprise PMO methodology and enforces project standards.
  • Documents the scope and objectives of assigned projects. With the support of the team and sponsors, develops a comprehensive and well-planned method for fulfilling project scope and objectives. Identifies skill sets, team roles and financial resources needed to accomplish project goals. Creates reliable project resource estimates, project work plans, and timelines.
  • Manages project scope throughout project, documenting and escalating for approval scope changes, in order to understand and plan for the impacts of the change.
  • Provides team leadership throughout the project. Oversight and management of team members, addressing team cohesion, conflict management, independent work, on time delivery, performance mentoring, motivation, and evaluation.
  • Communicates effectively with relevant project staff, business owners, stakeholders and executive sponsors. Develops and executes project communication plans, specific to the project and appropriate for all levels of the organization.
  • Prepare for and lead project meetings, including team meetings, sponsor meetings, vendor meetings, etc. Manages meetings, keeping on agenda and time, addressing attendee over or under participation, closes out meeting with topic summary and documented action items. Distributes meeting minutes.
  • With support of team, identifies tracks and develops solutions for issues and risks. Escalates issues appropriately and timely. Develops contingency plans to mitigate issue and risk impact.
  • Either personally completes or manages through assigned project team the completion of detailed project documents as stipulated by the project management framework or identified during the project planning phase. Ensures project documents are accurate, complete, current and stored appropriately.
  • Assures project compliance with enterprise quality and testing standards and with change control procedures. Prepares test plan, oversees test script creation and leads testing efforts, when a software quality analyst is not assigned to the project.
  • Manages vendor relationship as it pertains to project planning and execution. Coordinates with vendor management, all vendor project task completion and quality reviews. Reviews and provides approval for vendor project related invoices.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare IT or related field required.
  • 2 -4 years solid experience as a Project Manager in IT project management with increasing responsibilities.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
  • Operational and Project Management experience within a Healthcare/ Hospital environment is highly desired.
  • Clinical and Application experience is a plus.
  • Information Services/Technology experience.
  • Experience managing healthcare clinical system implementations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Healthcare or Hospital technology experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
