Job Summary:

The Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) will support healthcare providers in delivering high-quality patient care in an internal medicine setting. Responsibilities include clinical and administrative tasks to enhance the patient experience and maintain efficient office operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Assist in patient examinations and procedures by preparing instruments and equipment.
  • Take patient histories and vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and prepare specimens for analysis.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician.
  • Assist with EKGs and other diagnostic testing as required.
  • Maintain and sterilize medical equipment and instruments.


Administrative Duties:

  • Manage patient scheduling, confirming appointments, and maintaining the calendar for healthcare providers.
  • Handle front office tasks, including check-in and check-out processes and insurance verification.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure they are accurate and up-to-date in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and triage calls as necessary.


Patient Interaction:

  • Provide compassionate care by establishing rapport with patients and their families.
  • Educate patients on health maintenance and disease prevention topics.
  • Assist with the management of patient flow to ensure timely care.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Current certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting, preferably in internal medicine.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health records (EHR) software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must have Phlebotomy experience


Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in basic clinical procedures and an understanding of internal medicine practices.


Work Environment:

  • Work primarily in a clinical office setting, with exposure to patients of varying ages and health conditions.
  • May require standing for extended periods and lifting of light to moderate weights.
