Overview

OCTA's College Intern Program is a year-round paid student/intern program. You will gain real world work experience on meaningful projects under the guidance of a transportation professional. You will have the opportunity to use problem solving, communication and decision-making skills as you gain valuable work experience. You will also work with a mentor and benefit from career counseling.

As a College Intern, you will be exposed to OCTA's career opportunities in the transportation industry. You will gain deeper awareness of transportation's many facets through your OCTA orientation, projects and teams, and internal networking.

The Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Intern will be an HRIS team member who will learn what it is like to support a government agency from the HRIS perspective. The HRIS team works within human resources to research, design and execute technology solutions that meet the needs of our HR end-users and employee customers. Our team acts as a strategic partner in leading the use of transformation technology and predictive analytics to attract top talent, engage employees, empower data-driven decisions, and optimize the employee work experience. The Intern should be someone with an interest in HR technology, data integrity, reporting and project management.

The pay range is from $17.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on your education level. This position is not eligible for employee benefits. The work schedule will consist of approximately 20 hours a week, not to exceed 1,000 hours within a continuous 12 month period.

Eligibility list may be established up to 6 months from the posting date.

This position will remain open until filled.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the HRIS team in maintaining system reports.
  • Assist with gathering and organizing files from third-party systems.
  • Supports HRIS in the testing and roll-out of new HR systems and functionality.
  • Assist HRIS with ongoing process documentation and implementation.
  • Assist in managing incoming HR Help Desk cases to support the HR Department.
  • Support in HR branding activates (internal and external websites).
  • Assist with data integrity through system audits.
  • Assist in processes that can be streamlined through automation.

Qualifications

  • Currently a full-time college student enrolled in a two-year or four-year college program and following a course of study leading to a Bachelor's or Master's degree, with emphasis in Human Resources, Sociology, Organizational Psychology or Information Systems.
  • Must be a full-time student maintaining a 2.5 GPA.
  • Intern must conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Interest In

  • Learning about the Human Resources Information Systems field.
  • Learning the methods, materials, equipment, and techniques used in Human Resources Information Systems.

Ability To

  • Perform entry-level professional work.
  • Acquire increasingly complex and technical knowledge and skills.
  • Assume progressively responsible duties.

Knowledge Of

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Sharepoint, Camtasia, Visio, and Adobe Pro.
