Summary: The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective production of goods, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance through production planning, quality control, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute manufacturing strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives as measured by output volume and quality, production efficiency, employee productivity, and waste reduction.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing department, including production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability targets are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, procurement, and logistics, to ensure seamless coordination and communication throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to optimize production workflows, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing manufacturing team, including hiring, training, internships, coaching, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and finance, to align manufacturing activities with sales forecasts, demand planning, and budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, industry standards, and quality management systems, such as ISO certifications.
  • Establish Lean 5S initiatives to achieve a workplace that is clean, uncluttered, safe, and well organized to help reduce waste and optimize productivity.
  • Stay apprised of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in manufacturing, and actively seek opportunities, including R&D, to leverage new technologies or methodologies to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder
  • Must pass all pre and post hire background checks
  • Must pass preemployment and subsequent drug screenings
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Maintain Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives “Employee Possessor” eligibility and Federal Prohibitor status regarding firearms
  • Proven track record of supporting operational excellence regarding Department of Defense products that have become Programs of Record, including performing First Article Inspections.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline.
  • At least three years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience with supervision of both people and processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong computer literacy with demonstrated proficiency utilizing: MS Office 365 programs and plans, including MS Power Platform(s), SQL Server Management Studio, ERP systems, and other software.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification with the commitment to obtain Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • APQC Certified Framework Professional and/or Certified Process Manager Certification

Physical Requirements

  • RARE (less than 10%): crawling, climbing, gripping, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body-twisting, sense of touch, manual dexterity, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., reaching, range-of-motion, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, climbing stairs, balancing.
  • FREQUENT (up to 66%): walking, sitting, climbing on/off truck, reading, lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): speaking clearly, seeing distant, seeing, hearing-speech-range, depth-perception.
