DSHS's Behavioral Health Administration is seeking a Clinical Services Manager to oversee a competency restoration program at Behavioral Health and Treatment Centers - Steilacoom Unit located in Lakewood, WA

As a licensed psychologist, if you are looking for an exciting career in the field of competency restoration within a recovery-oriented forensic psychiatric center, this is the opportunity for you! In this unique role, you will serve as a leader in a forensic program that is truly groundbreaking. You will have the unique opportunity to learn about forensic mental health, chronic mental illness, and competency restoration as well as the forensic evaluation system.

This is an opportunity for you to lead an interdisciplinary team to create a therapeutic environment and provide excellent treatment to assist our residents in their progress towards competency restoration. Reporting directly to the BHTC Chief Clinical Officer, you will provide effective oversight to maintain compliance with certification and evidence-based treatment standards, state and federal regulations, and agency/division requirements. You will also provide reliable and sound guidance, consultation, and clinical assistance in the development and implementation of behavioral health treatment center policies and procedures related to clinical services.

A flexible work schedule may be considered for this role, as well as one telework day per week. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Some Of What You Will Do

  • Lead and supervise psychologist 4s who oversee psychology associates, psychiatric social workers, and recreation specialists.
  • Provide clinical leadership to Program Specialists and Institutional Counselors in collaboration with the Program Director.
  • Ensure the quality of clinical services is maintained through individual and group supervision.
  • Conduct performance reviews annually for staff under direct supervision, including establishing specific, professional development goals.
  • Provide guidance to ensure that clinical records are accurate, current, and meet licensing regulations and policy.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance and Training Manager to ensure that a quality improvement program is implemented.
  • Provide consultation and support to staff including being available for staff to debrief about difficult situations.
  • Provide backup clinical care to residents when assigned staff are unavailable.
  • Provide information to leadership about in-service training offered to staff, assuring that it meets licensure standards and clinical needs.
  • Participate in and actively support community advisory committees; community needs assessments. Implement and maintain a variety of procedures to evaluate programs and services.

We're looking for a dedicated leader that will maintain the unification of three teams across the day, swing, and night shifts. Your leadership will help the team build bridges with the other disciplines as well. Your ability to gather data for treatment plans ensures treatment model policy and hours are followed.

Who Should Apply

Licensed Psychologists with a Ph.D., plus 3 years of post-doctoral experience; concurrent experience should include:

  • Supervising others
  • Identifying shortcomings and accomplishments of regulatory compliance
  • Competency restoration in the behavioral health field
  • Knowledge of social learning model is preferred
