Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and submit insurance claims for reimbursement in a timely and accurate manner.
Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to services being rendered.
Follow up on submitted claims, resolve claim denials, and reprocess claims as necessary.
Post insurance and patient payments to the appropriate accounts.
Communicate with patients regarding their billing inquiries, outstanding balances, and payment options.
Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and billing requirements (HIPAA, Medicaid, Medicare).
Maintain accurate patient and billing records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Collaborate with medical coders, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or certification in medical billing/coding preferred.
Experience: [X] years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting (specialization in [type of care] is a plus).
Skills:
Proficiency in medical billing software ([specific software preferred]).
Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems.
Knowledge of insurance processes and regulations, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing claims and payments.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and comply with HIPAA regulations.
