Open Sky is seeking a compassionate individual looking for a unique opportunity to provide 11 care to an individual served residing at Open Sky’s Oberlin Street program.

The Oberlin Street program is an 8-person group living environment for adults with mental illness. This program tends to assist folks with cooccurring medical diagnoses as well. This program offers staff support 24/7. This program has one internal respite bed that can be utilized by the Worcester Integrated Teams. The people in this program are supported by staff on site as well as the integrated team. Services focus on helping people to transition to a more independent environment while maximizing their natural supports by building skills and achieving personal goals.

The 11 Residential Counselor will provide direct support to the individual with a developmental disability and mental illness. The counselor will work with the individual to live as independently as possible, while providing guidance and performing various levels of assisted daily living skills. It is important that the residential counselor act as strong advocate for the individual served and that they understand the importance of community integration. They also exhibit Open Sky’s commitment to racial equity, justice, diversity, and inclusion in the work they perform.

Schedule 20 hours per week, variable 1st and 2nd shift

Other Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care, which includes direct care duties, occasional lifting, medication administration (with training), documentation, transportation, behavioral intervention, role modeling, and recreational activities.
  • Assist individual to access and/or provide transportation.
  • Review and complete all required documentation.
  • Implement all individualized service and behavior plans.
  • Implement activities that facilitate the development of valued roles and personal relationships in the community and assist individual with daily routines.
  • Implement all procedures that ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the individual.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record required.
  • Reliability, willingness to learn, and being open to new opportunities.
