SALARY: The hourly rate for this position is $20.00.

The New Jersey Judiciary’s Office of Probation Services is seeking dynamic, engaged undergraduate students who are interested in gaining experience and knowledge in a wide array of the evidence-based practices and training development techniques, used by the judicial court system, specifically in probation. The Office of Probation Services assists the local Probation Divisions by identifying and establishing best practices; goals and objectives; and training, in their areas of responsibility, including case management and support to clients placed on probation or ordered to pay child support. This internship opportunity will provide exposure to the development and implementation of a variety of training programs and activities used to support and prepare Probation Division staff for the work they do. Experience or interest in various modes of training development and video editing is helpful.

Example of Duties

  • Assist in planning and organizing training events for probation staff
  • Observe and participate in the development of on-line training
  • Record video footage for on-line training
  • Assist in video editing and production for on-line learning
  • Conduct research on training topics
  • Perform computer related work
  • Perform special projects
  • Collect and enter data
  • Assist staff as directed


Qualifications

Thirty credit hours from an accredited college pursuing a degree or certificate in the Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a related field . Unofficial College or University transcript must be included in your application in order to be considered .

Supplemental Information

Physical Ability: For some positions, applicants must have the ability to perform work which requires climbing and prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching. The selected candidate must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds and, occasionally, materials weighing up to 75 pounds.

Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information.

Residency Law: In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.
