We are seeking a demonstrated and effective leader to join the Environmental team at the INVISTA Victoria site as the Environmental Air Leader. In this role, the Environmental Air Leader will develop and mentor a team of environmental engineers and be responsible for the site’s air compliance program.

The Environmental Air Leader must be able to embrace and lead change, possess strong interpersonal skills, have the ability to use influence to progress work, and efficiently manage multiple priorities. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of audiences. The successful candidate must also lead by example, be self-motivated, possess strong analytical & problem-solving skills, exhibit sound decision-making, and have proficient organizational skills.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving down non-compliance issues, ensuring adherence to environmental regulations, and collaborating closely with operations personnel to foster a culture of environmental responsibility and continuous improvement.

This role reports to the Environmental Manager.

What You Will Do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of environmental engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Provide strategic direction and support to the team to ensure environmental compliance objectives are met and exceeded.
  • Oversee the preparation, submission, and maintenance of all required environmental air permits and reports.
  • Promote a stewardship and compliance culture such that all employees know and understand the compliance requirements for their roles and responsible environmental practices are implemented.
  • Support understanding by environmental personnel responsible for implementing and executing management systems of “what good looks like” for a sustainable management system.
  • Identify opportunities for environmental process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance stewardship and compliance.
  • Develop, track, and analyze metrics for environmental air compliance, such as upset events, permit exceedances and deviations, audit findings, and corrective actions.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency efforts that improves compliance, reduces footprint, eliminates waste, and ultimately makes INVISTA Victoria more competitive without compromising compliance.
  • Working on job sites in the field, climbing stairs in operating unit and working in extreme temperatures and weather conditions for various periods of time as business needs permit


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Progressive environmental experience to include environmental leadership in a Title V operating facility
  • Experience with environmental management systems (EMS) and sustainability initiatives
  • Experience using tolls and software environmental reporting and compliance tracking (e.g., Cority, PowerBI, Microsoft Planner)
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and reducing non-compliance issues
  • Willing & able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or STEM discipline
  • Experience in a petrochemical facility or manufacturing environment
  • Prior leadership role managing a team of engineers
  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) identification badge (allowing for unescorted access to the facility within a specific time period)
