BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of the Food & Nutrition Program Manager is to manage Hope Express, Medically Tailored Meals, Fresh Choice Food Program and all other food/nutrition initiatives.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision of Food & Nutrition Program staff including but not limited scheduling and evaluating employees
  • Manage volunteer recruitment, registration, onboarding, placement and supervision
  • Ensure compliance of food and nutrition programs according to internal policies and contractual terms
  • Manage accounts receivable processes for the food and nutrition programs in coordination with Finance & Contracts Manager
  • Manage street outreach services
  • Order, inventory and manage food products, equipment and supplies
  • Prepare and cook meals, as needed
  • Manage menu planning, and ensure menu options are equally nutritious and culturally appropriate
  • Manage food donations deliveries and gifts-in-kind records
  • Manage intake and program eligibility for food & nutrition programs
  • Operate and maintain the mobile kitchen trailer and assigned vehicles
  • Serve on the Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team
  • Schedule and coordinate nutrition workshops and trainings
  • Coordinate with others agencies and providers to ensure continuity of care
  • Coordinate medical referrals in coordination with contracted managed care plans
  • Participate in weekly case conference meetings
  • Participate in program and agency trainings as assigned
  • Maintain accurate participant records in various information management systems; and generate reports as requested
  • Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPPA standards
  • Maintain a highly detailed and organized filling system
  • Ensure intake and care procedures utilize harm reduction and trauma informed care principles
  • Check and respond to emails and voicemails on a regular basis
  • Adhere to confidentiality standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Other Qualifications Requirements

  • Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level
  • High degree of confidentiality
  • Able to endorse and promote The Salvation Army’s mission
  • Associate’s degree in food service management, Social Work, Human Services, or minimum two (2) years of food service management, social service/work and/or related experience preferred
  • Computer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Word, Publisher, Excel and Outlook preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • High school diploma
  • Must possess ServSafe Food Handler certification
  • Must obtain the ServSafe Food Manager certification within first 90 days of employment
  • Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program
  • Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
  • Ability to reach overhead
  • Ability to operate telephone
  • Ability to lift 50-70 lbs.
  • Ability to operate a computer
  • Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
