Job Description

HealthPartners is currently hiring for a Research Development Specialist. The specialist position supports the efficient development and submission of research grant proposals and the transition from grant proposal to funded research study. This is done through the interpretation and application of both federal regulations and HealthPartners policies and procedures relative to the administration of research activities. The Research Development Specialist works with internal Institute research investigators and administration, and external collaborators to develop and complete proposals across a wide variety of health care topics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related area (i.e.: Public Health, Health Administration, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Public Administration, etc.).
  • Minimum of 1 year research experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, coordination, and organization skills.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with PCs, spreadsheets, and word processing applications.
  • Personal communication skills needed to represent directed needs of the Institute to outside agencies and organizations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships including Institute leadership, staff, and investigators.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years' work experience in a research environment or master’s degree in a related area.
  • Grant submission or research review experience.
  • Familiarity with scientific, financial, and regulatory requirements of health care research.
  • Experience with presentations/visual display of information.

Location/Hours:

  • M-F; Days
  • Position may work remote but will prefer local candidates for occasional onsite needs.

Accountabilities

  • Develops materials for research proposals and applications to a variety of funding sources including federal government, foundations, and industry. Ensures that information included in applications is timely, accurate, and complete.
  • Coordinates, maintains, and customizes descriptions of the organization, local personnel, and resources; ensures organizational information used for both internal and external audiences is timely, relevant, and interesting and that project goals are supported by required documents.
  • Works with internal and external partners to ensure proposal documents and required information are received in a timely manner and are in adherence with institutional and funding agency standards.
  • Electronically documents and monitors proposals and applications, including the development of reports and processes for quality assurance, compliance, and planning.
  • Conducts searches in public databases for funding opportunities and researches web-based resources to support the development of proposals.
  • Responsible for data that is used for organizational metrics and success standards, creates reports and presentations for both internal and external audiences.
  • Supports the efficient transfer of projects from development to operations and ensures that information is shared in a timely manner.
  • Supports grant submissions and Just In Time (JIT) processes as needed.
  • Supports other development responsibilities as assigned.
