Compliance Consultant – Special Populations


IN THIS ROLE:

You will coordinate efforts to ensure compliance of constituent districts within Oakland County with leadership, professional learning, consulting, resource development, and technical assistance to the local school districts, public school academies, parents, and community partners in Oakland County to ensure adherence to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).


WHAT WE NEED:

We are seeking a collaborative, creative, solution-focused special education professional with strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. You will work within the Compliance Unit to support the implementation of mandatory monitoring procedures and continuous improvement efforts within local schools, work cooperatively with the Michigan Department of Education Office of Special Education and the Michigan Association of Administrators of Special Education (MAASE), and ensure and support the implementation of IDEA and Section 504 services to eligible students within Oakland County. In addition, you will complete corrective action plans with local schools as required and maintain records to ensure legal compliance, design and conduct professional learning, technical assistance tools, and guidance to parents, local school personnel, Oakland Schools’ personnel, and external agencies in interpretation and implementation of special education mandates and requirements.


WHAT YOU NEED:

Master’s degree in Special Education or related field required.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of Special Education required.

Valid Michigan teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement or license/endorsement in a related field required.

Michigan Administrator of Special Education approval preferred.

Ability to provide training, direction, and consultation regarding Special Education.

Ability to support programs for complex learners.

Strong skills related to technology including but not limited to computers and multiple software programs and applications.

Knowledge of current legal mandates related to Special Education and Section 504.

Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex situations.

Outstanding time management and organizational skills.

Ability to work with distractions and manage work pressures/deadlines.

Strong leadership skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Ability to develop positive and supportive relationships with classroom teachers, administrators, and staff.


SALARY DETAILS:

$98,989 - $114,797 based on experience, with the potential of earning up to $123,624 Annually / Exempt Position / 12-month work year
