Description

Job Summary:

The Water Spider is responsible for ensuring the continuous flow of materials and supplies to the production line, enabling operators to focus on production without interruptions. This role is essential for maintaining efficiency in the production process by managing the supply of components, tools, and materials in a timely manner, according to the Just-in-Time (JIT) principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Material Replenishment: Regularly deliver raw materials, tools, and other necessary supplies to production workstations based on the production schedule and pull signals.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and track inventory levels of parts, tools, and supplies, ensuring they are maintained at the required levels to support production.
  • Kanban System Management: Ensure that the Kanban system is followed, replenishing materials when necessary to avoid production delays.
  • Waste Elimination: Identify and eliminate bottlenecks, material shortages, and other inefficiencies in the material flow process.
  • Collaboration with Operators: Work closely with production operators to understand their needs and ensure they have all necessary resources to maintain uninterrupted workflow.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess and recommend improvements to material handling processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste in alignment with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of material usage, supply levels, and deliveries. Provide reports as required by supervisors and management.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while handling materials and moving supplies in the production area.

This role is designed to ensure that production processes run smoothly, allowing operators to focus on value-added activities without disruptions due to material shortages or inefficiencies

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Prior experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is preferred.

Understanding of lean manufacturing principles (knowledge of JIT, 5S, Kanban systems).

Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to [X lbs].

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

Good communication skills to interact with team members across departments.

Forklift certification (preferred).

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate tools and equipment effectively.

Visual acuity to inspect and troubleshoot machinery, equipment, and facility systems.
