Allegion is looking for a passionate Test Engineer to work as part of a highly engaged small team within a global organization of 12,000+ employees, representing 30+ brands (including Schlage, Von Duprin and LCN) focused on safety, security and access management. You’ll work on solutions that will enable seamless access and help keep you and your loved ones safe and secure where they work, live and thrive.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive product validation activities of assigned projects to ensure that new or current electro-mechanical products reliably meet performance requirements.
  • Support development of formal and complete test plans (DVP&R), as well as Test Methods, to perform necessary tests on door hardware and access control products.
  • Serve as full member in cross-functional and multi-discipline teams to represent testing activities, report product observations, collaborate with internal customers, advocate quality to protect our product end-users.
  • Competently use available lab resources, oversee or perform tests, review and document results, and make recommendations to the team in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Test Technicians within guidelines and policies by providing them technical guidance, supporting them to achieve the assigned testing activities, and critically reviewing their reported test results.
  • Support lab improvement initiatives to maintain lab competencies on par with changing customer demand, new product technology, and latest industry requirements.
  • Support improvement of existing lab processes to increase lab throughput, train peers and lab technicians, and seek repeatability & reproducibility of test results.
  • Support product failure investigations by gathering and communicating objective evidence to relevant teams, helping identify root cause, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Competently use test methods, industry standards, data analysis tools, Design of Experiments (DOE), and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Program PLCs and other custom means of controlling test machines and bench tests.
  • Use communication and interpersonal skills to serve internal customers such as Product Engineering, System Engineering, Product Management, and Technical Service, and to collaborate with peers, both locally and globally.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering field or equivalent in years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Expanded knowledge of product test engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in testing electro-mechanical consumer products, preferably door hardware or access control products, from design concept to production-level maturity
  • Ability to program or learn to program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and use automation to exercise units under test
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with critical path deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn and follow basic engineering processes, as modeled by senior peers and documented in standard work
  • Ability to take responsibility for and adhere to fundamental defined activities within the Product Development Process
  • Willingness to receive mentorship from leadership and more experienced peers
  • Competent English language technical communication skills, both written and spoken

Compensation: This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

  • The expected Base Salary Range: $65,900 - $116,600. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
