Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Microbiologist to join our esteemed team at the Elizabeth Microbiology Laboratory. This full-time position will primarily involve performing microbial limits testing on water and environmental air monitoring samples from our Elizabeth and Edison facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantitative microbial analyses on water and environmental monitoring (EM) samples to ensure compliance with microbiological specifications as well as company and regulatory standards.
  • Utilize approved test methods, protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) while ensuring adherence to current industry standards.
  • Carry out routine water and environmental monitoring sampling.
  • Participate in laboratory investigations related to microbiology and coordinate corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain clear communication with fellow Quality Control Microbiologists regarding test results and Micro Lab Investigation Reports.
  • Document all laboratory activities meticulously in accordance with Good Documentation Practices and cGMP requirements.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to equipment and microbiological preparations while handling microbial waste responsibly.
  • Order necessary media, reagents, and supplies for the microbiological testing performed in the laboratory.

Required Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of various microbiological tests, particularly water and environmental air monitoring testing.
  • Familiarity with cGMP practices and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Proficiency in using LIMS and Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and mathematical proficiency, including an understanding of fractions, percentages, and ratios.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related science is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a pharmaceutical laboratory environment is essential.
  • Knowledge of microorganisms and aseptic techniques is necessary.
  • Understanding of compendia procedures and general chapters (e.g., USP, NF) is preferred.
