  • So what's the role?**

Universal Presentation Concepts (UPC) is looking to hire a full-time Industrial Design Engineer to join our team at our Madison, WI facility to create exciting new retail store fixtures and point of purchase (POP) displays.   • What will my day look like?**

As an Industrial Design Engineer, you design, engineer, and update our products. You arrive each day determined to provide continued work for the rest of our company by finding cost-effective ways to give our customers what they want. As customers make requests, you are the one to make it a reality!

According to your deep understanding of our customers' needs, you design and engineer new products. You research and find new innovations that are cost-effective. You turn your researched ideas and drafts into technical plans for prototypes that will impress our customers. From there, we work as a team to turn the concept into a working model for our production crew.

But once we have a prototype, your work has just begun! Tests are run on the prototype and you make the appropriate modifications. And, then, you retest! You repeat that process as needed before the product is finally ready for manufacturing.

It's a good thing that you are known for being persistent! Your excellent communication skills also come in handy as you report to project managers and clients throughout the process. You work closely with the production team with all new products to ensure success upon roll out. You enjoy the variety and challenge inherent in your work and feel good about the part you play in keeping our customers coming back for more!

  • What experience and skills do I need to be successful?**
  • 5 years of industrial product design and engineering experience
  • 5 years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Proficiency with computer-aided design software, AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • Proven ability to create 2D and 3D renderings
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
  • Experience with furniture, cabinets, retail displays, or merchandising would be a huge plus
  • What will my schedule look like?**

This is a salaried role generally working office hours Monday-Friday 8a-5p. We can be flexible on start and end times as long as you are meeting business needs. Salaried team members at UPC are expected to contribute a minimum of 45 hours each week.

Our processes include: large format printing, silk screening, CNC machining, vacuum forming, edge banding, finishing, plastic fabrication, custom/studio work, assembly and packaging, warehouse and shipping.
