Position Title: Senior Welding Engineer

Position Overview

The Senior Welding Engineer plays a pivotal role in our manufacturing sector, leveraging extensive expertise to tackle complex manufacturing challenges. This position is centered on the design, enhancement, and implementation of integrated systems that facilitate the introduction of innovative products into our manufacturing process. Your contributions will have a direct influence on safety, quality, delivery, cost efficiency, and the advancement of operational capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and authorize welding and/or brazing techniques, alongside the applications of related equipment within the manufacturing framework.
  • Actively monitor and troubleshoot welding and vacuum brazing issues, supporting initiatives aimed at process yield enhancement.
  • Prepare and assess metallurgical samples to validate processes for production deployment.
  • Offer technical guidance concerning welding and metallurgy to design, manufacturing, and quality engineers, as well as to manufacturing floor personnel and supervisors.
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to design and coordinate testing activities and ensure compliance with reporting standards.
  • Provide specialized expertise on welding and heat treatment matters to the Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to innovate and assess new welding methods, processes, and procedures.
  • Work alongside Product Engineers in the design and development of emergent products.
  • Identify potential welding applications for future technological advancements in collaboration with Manufacturing and Engineering.
  • Formulate procedures and work instructions pertaining to welding processes grounded in best practices.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing throughput and machine uptime.
  • Lead structured problem-solving sessions to boost first-pass yield.
  • Select and meticulously document suitable welding equipment and settings.
  • Facilitate communication among departments to synchronize activities, resolve issues, and streamline workflows.
  • As a subject matter expert, conduct training sessions on welding-related topics.
  • Participate in welding industry events to assess new developments for potential application.

Required Skills

  • Comprehensive experience with welding and surface treatment processes, along with applications engineering.
  • In-depth understanding of gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and tungsten inert gas (TIG) processes and their variables.
  • Proficient knowledge of production specifications, properties, and characteristics related to stainless steel and high-nickel alloys.
  • Familiarity with electron beam (EB) welding is advantageous.
  • Thorough understanding of vacuum brazing and its related parameters.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Materials Sciences, Metallurgy, or a related technical field with a concentration in welding or heat treatment is preferred.
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in manufacturing and welding processes is required.
