We are currently in search of three skilled Coding Specialists to join our Health Information Management team, specifically focusing on inpatient coding for Level II Trauma centers. This fully remote position is open to candidates residing outside of CA, NY, NJ, CO, OR, and HI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic and procedure codes on clinical encounters in alignment with regulatory and CMS guidelines, ensuring precise reimbursement.
  • Provide intermediate clinical inpatient support within the Health Information Management department and collaborate closely with leadership to fulfill all relevant coding assignments for various discharge departments, including but not limited to, Postpartum, Newborn, NICU, and more.
  • Maintain adherence to Health Information Management coding policies while applying American Hospital Association Official Coding Guidelines to ensure correct principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures.
  • Engage in the physician clarification process to gather necessary information when documentation lacks clarity, ambiguity, or completeness.
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives and consistently meet or exceed productivity and quality standards set forth by department leadership.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience required, with preference for experience in acute care facilities and/or Trauma Level II coding.
  • Certified coding credentials from AAPC, AHIMA, or a similar organization are mandatory.
  • Proficiency in translating diagnostic statements and physician orders accurately.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and current regulatory changes.
  • Familiarity with CPT Assistant and HCPCS coding manuals.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to coding precision.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in inpatient coding.
  • Certification in Health Information Management or a related field is essential.
  • No management experience is required for this position.
