Inpatient Coding Specialist - Fully Remote Hospital Role

We are currently seeking three experienced Coding Specialists to enhance our Health Information Management team. This fully remote role (excluding candidates from CA, NY, NJ, CO, OR, and HI) is ideal for individuals with substantial experience in inpatient coding within a Level II Trauma center environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic and procedure codes for clinical encounters while adhering to regulatory guidelines and CMS Official Coding standards.
• Provide clinical inpatient support in collaboration with Health Information Management leadership to complete coding assignments for various discharge departments, including but not limited to: Postpartum, Newborn, NICU, Cardiac ICU, Orthopedics, Nephrology, and Neurosciences.
• Ensure compliance with CMS coding and reporting standards, consistently meeting or exceeding productivity and quality benchmarks set by department leadership.
• Actively engage in performance improvement initiatives, enhancing coding quality and accuracy.
• Maintain and update coding knowledge in alignment with current ICD-10-CM guidelines and regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with HIM staff to resolve documentation queries and ensure accurate coding practices.
  
  

Required Skills

• A minimum of five years of inpatient coding experience is essential.
• Proficiency in coding across various discharge departments is required, with preference given to those familiar with acute care and Trauma Level II coding.
• Current AAPC or AHIMA coding credential (excluding apprenticeships) is mandatory.
• Strong understanding of CPT Assistant and HCPCS coding manuals.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to coding accuracy.
  
  

Qualifications

• Certification in Health Information Management or a related field is required.
• At least 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in inpatient coding is necessary.
• Experience in a Level II Trauma center and familiarity with specialty areas such as Wound Care, Infusion, Home Health, Hospice, Inpatient Rehab, or Interventional Radiology is preferred.

Compensation And Benefits

• Base Salary: USD \(56,056 to \)78,478
• Full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.
