As a Technology Summer Team Member, you will play a vital role working alongside one of our many Technology Teams. In this role, you’ll utilize your skillset to help develop and enhance our in-house, industry-leading technology. Our technology allows our clients to succeed with industry-first applications, tools and support. You’ll also work on a summer-long project where you’ll collaborate alongside students with backgrounds & passions in software development, databases and infrastructures, cybersecurity, project management, and more!

This team works to bridge the gap between business needs and IT solutions by analyzing business requirements, designing quality assurance processes, and ensuring that IT projects meet both functional and quality standards.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and understand business requirements and technical solutions.
  • Conduct business process assessments and gap analysis, and develop project plans and diagrams for clarity to ensure business needs are met.
  • Create, document, and assist in refining development and testing plans and user stories for project teams to execute.
  • Design and create test cases (positive and negative), and perform functional and regression test execution.
  • Log defects with clear steps to reproduce, validate fixes, and provide a confidence score for deploying software to production.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and assist with issue resolution.
  • Learn and adhere to the expectations, standards, and systems of Quality Assurance (QA) at United Wholesale Mortgage.
  • Estimate effort for the creation and execution of manual test cases and identify gaps in requirements from business enhancements.
  • Participate in cohort project with other Summer Team Members, developing and designing team specific tasks, executing project work, and delivering progress presentations.
  • Participate in project focused Scrum rituals (standup, refinement, planning, retrospective).

What We Need From You

  • Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2025 or 2026 (current junior/senior status).
  • The ability to work Monday thru Friday, 40-hours a week, fully on-site in Pontiac, MI from the end of May to mid-August.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and excellent time-management skills.
  • Ability to both thrive in a team environment and effectively work independently to complete assignments on time.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to receive and apply feedback.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills while being comfortable in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to multitask and demonstrate adaptability and forward thinking in the face of technological or organizational change.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate complex technical issues and solutions in a clear, simple, and understandable way.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote.
  • Ability to collaborate with other roles to drive a project forward.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and testing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and familiarity with project planning, work breakdown, and Agile concepts and methodology.
  • Familiarity with defining test strategies.

Nice To Have

  • Work examples of prior projects or experience related to this role.
  • Prior experience performing activities related to relevant IT roles, such as: Business Analyst, Quality Assurance Analyst, Software Testing, Project Management.
