GEI has an outstanding opportunity for a California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental planning professional to join a dynamic and growing team of professionals. You will work collaboratively with clients and GEI’s other leaders and experts in the environmental, engineering, and water resources fields, on projects involving flood control planning and infrastructure, water infrastructure, water supply development, water conservation, groundwater recharge, water transfers, dams and canals, pipelines, hydroelectric development, natural resources management, ecosystem restoration, energy transmission and distribution, and renewable energy development.

As part of our multidisciplinary project teams, you will have an important role in executing projects; interfacing with existing and new clients to ensure their environmental compliance needs are met; conducting and coordinating environmental analyses for CEQA, NEPA, and other environmental regulations; and working as part of our team for collaborative problem-solving.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform project delivery activities such as report writing, undertaking and organizing data collection, conducting site visits, performing data and literature review, interfacing with clients and teaming partners, and coordinating and preparing CEQA/NEPA compliance, and environmental permitting documentation.
  • As part of integrated teams, work closely and collaboratively with other project environmental specialists, engineers, planners, project managers, and project directors to execute projects.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, clients, agencies, and other consulting firms to achieve project objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA, BS, MA, MS, or Ph.D. in Environmental Studies, Environmental or Biological Sciences, Urban Planning, Geography, or other natural or physical sciences degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience with writing environmental documents and conducting environmental analysis and experience successfully preparing CEQA and/or NEPA documents.
  • Outstanding problem-solving, organization, coordination, writing, people, and verbal communication skills; solid work ethic; and ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with others as part of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent quality of work and technical experience a must.
  • Successful track record of adherence to project budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
