Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Strategic Initiatives is a key member of the planning & execution functions with accountability to drive effective execution of departmental projects and initiatives enabling successful achievement of business plans. They play a key role in the organization’s success by ensuring strategic goals are translated into actionable plans. They work in collaboration with departmental leadership to develop and execute critical initiatives contributing to both corporate and department goals. This leader will be responsible for driving various strategic initiatives, financial planning and operational execution in support of departmental goals.

Leadership and Relationships
Directly and indirectly supervises employees. Executes supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Compensation Information
At Flood and Peterson all full time employees are eligible for benefits, including Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, and paid Volunteer Time Off. Full time employees are also eligible to participate in our excellent 401k program, which includes both safe harbor and discretionary matching. We also offer several other voluntary insurance programs including expanded Life, Disability, Accident, Critical Illness/Event, and legal services. In addition to regular pay, this position is eligible to participate in our annual performance incentive program.
Starting pay for exempt position is $135,000-$170,000/annually . Pay may exceed this range for well-qualified candidates, commensurate with experience.

Leadership and Relationships
- Build and maintain strong working relationships and close communications within business unit leadership teams.
- Partner closely with Business Unit leadership to ensure alignment of business unit initiatives with the organization’s strategic priorities including multi-year planning, resource planning, initiative prioritization and strategic roadmap development.
- Establish and implement departmental reporting framework including reporting structures, job descriptions, role clarity and staffing needs.
- Work effectively with others across different departments, hierarchies, and functional areas, relying on strong collaboration and influence skills to achieve objectives. Navigate organizational relationships to recognize and integrate a variety of perspectives, develop actionable recommendations, and generate consensus with partners across teams.
- Utilize strong and creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and strategic planning skills, including the ability to disaggregate problems and structure complex issues.
- Perform as a Practice Leader for key departments as needed during niche development
- Recruit, hire, and onboard employees and assist with hiring process for all other core business units.
- Serve as an active member of the Core Leadership Team.
- Participate in annual planning process and responsible for developing departmental performance goals and staffing needs.
- Design and execute strategic planning infrastructure and ensure clear processes, documentation and operating model to drive effective direction and ensure alignment of organization to overall goals and vision.
- Assist with annual budget preparation and manage to departmental budget goals.
- Assist in defining, measuring and monitoring customer experience through analytics and technology.
- Develop process improvements to enhance customer experience outcomes and desk efficiency for service staff, with a specific focus on technology and automation.
- Focus on identifying and implementing solutions that enhance operational efficiency, improve business capabilities, and streamline processes to address both short-term needs and strategic, longer-term goals.
- Develop and/or review and implement training programs and operational procedures in collaboration with other department directors.
- Use innovation and strategic planning tools and methodologies to drive business process excellence and deliver business unit results.
- Implement process improvement disciplines to increase quality and improve delivery.
- Identify and streamline customer engagement processes; quantify and measure the impact of process improvement efforts.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education And Work Experience
- Minimum 10 years of operations, client service, and/or quality experience in roles of increasing complexity
- Financial services and/or insurance agency experience is required, ideally in an evolving and/or transforming environment
- Proven record of successfully completed improvement projects with documented top and bottom-line impact
- Proven track record of developing the business case, gaining support from the executive team, and delivering the outcome is required
- Experience leading process innovation and customer experience driven projects to deliver step-function improvement
- Ability to apply best-in-class methodologies
- Track record of facilitating diverse teams to produce team effectiveness and project results
- Bachelor’s degree preferred

- Current or obtain Colorado Property & Casualty Insurance License within 2 months of hire date
- Actively pursue industry designation of CISR or equivalent
- Requires current Colorado driver’s license and acceptable MVR
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms under 1/3 of the time
- Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk or hear, sit over 2/3 of the time
- Requires the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. less than 1/3 of the time
- Work environment while in the office is moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, moderate traffic)
