Role Overview:

Testing is an important function that allows Otis to qualify components and systems to customer requirements. Otis Test Engineering in Bristol, CT is looking for a Mechanical Engineer Summer Intern to work with the Test Engineering department to support a variety of component and system level testing including the design and development of test rigs. Specific project(s) to be determined closer to summer 2025.

On a typical day you will:

Over the ten weeks you will be exposed to hoistway testing in our 28 story Bristol Test Tower and also to environmental and component level test rigs in the attached Quality Assurance Center. You will be required to work closely with technicians, test personnel and engineers from our office in Farmington as well as other global offices. We are seeking a dynamic individual that likes to work on multiple projects and enjoys getting involved to identify areas for improvement and taking initiative to come up with solutions. You may be involved in root cause analysis of field related issues, replicating failure modes in the lab, addressing problems with test rigs/hoistways or designing new fixtures/tests. If you have a genuine curiosity in understanding how things work, this position is for you.

What You Will Need to be Successful:

Working towards BS or MS in mechanical engineering.

Knowledge of measurement systems is a plus.

Working knowledge of Creo, MatLab and LabView or similar programs is preferred but not required.

Desire to learn about design and implementation of test fixtures and working through development process.
