  • The Coordinator/Sr Coordinator of Operations Communications and Issues Response is part of American’s Global Engagement team, that builds and protects the airline’s brand and reputation. The Global Engagement team is a dynamic and collaborative group that helps shape the company's actions and drives engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • In this role, you will provide actionable insights and background information to a team of communications experts in support of American’s operation and in response to issues or crises that may arise. The right person for this job must be able to work in a high-pressure, high-profile environment with tight deadlines.

What You'll Do

  • Support rapid response communications throughout the airline, serving as a first point of contact for the Operations Communications and Issues Response team. Research and provide information that guides media response, while flagging and escalating issues in real time.
  • Work to translate complex data into actionable insights and expertly gather and deliver timely information to inform communications strategies.
  • Monitor Media Relations inbox and track media inquiries. issues and incidents.
  • Oversee and maintain databases, platforms and processes that aid in rapid response.
  • Support data-driven storytelling initiatives and prepare data through multiple platforms for quarterly reporting.
  • Uphold the integrity of the Global Engagement team by developing and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues across the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/training
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in handling customer issues and problem-solving

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • 3 years of relevant work experience in Customer Relations or Reservations 
  • Experience in AACoRN, Sabre, ePNR, Adovocate, ReAct360, Nexidia, CERS

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast paced, 24/7 environment to support American’s communications efforts.
  • Assist on projects requiring excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking and presentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt and respond quickly to changing landscapes and work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Highly analytical with experience and interest in using social media and internal platforms to improve processes and reporting.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills and open-mindedness to reach a fair decision and/or solution.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time and meet deadlines effectively, efficiently and independently.
  • Must be a strong team player who can collaborate effectively with other team members and department leadership.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience in Power BI is helpful.
