Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a CAD Designer to join our team!


The CAD Designer will be responsible for facilities and pipeline related design, construction management and integrity management projects from inception through to As-Built delivery. Projects will be multi-disciplined covering civil, mechanical, and electrical works, with a strong focus on the utilities area of the business. Responsible for the successful delivery of each project through management of internal staff, external contractors, financial control, and strong management of change.


The CAD Designer I will apply broad theoretical job knowledge which is typically obtained through an advanced education. The work of this individual is closely supervised.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare plans, layouts, assembly drawings, detail drawings and sketches as directed by engineers.
  • Be responsible for the knowledge of building codes, federal transportation regulations, development of details and the organization of construction documents.
  • Creating and modifying 3-D piping custom components, equipment, structures, facilities, etc.
  • Conceptualize, design and communicate successfully in CAD using current industry standards.
  • Find solutions to problems that arise throughout a project.
  • Make periodic field trips to verify site information.
  • Understand company drafting quality processes and check.
  • Provide guidance and training to drafters
  • Assist the engineering and design team with reviewing and checking drawings for accuracy
  • Able to lead a team of CAD designers and technicians when required.
  • Help engineers with redlines and updating drawings
  • Compute basic calculations under the direction of a designer or engineer


Requirements:

  • A.A.S. Degree in Mechanical drafting and design or relevant background
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Previous mechanical-focused experience preferred
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred
  • Advanced Skillset in AutoDesk 3D products (CADworx, Plant 3D, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and have some database knowledge.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills to work and lead a team to ensure projects are accurate and completed on time
  • Must have good mathematical background to handle common calculations.
  • Willing to learn new skills and work as a team to meet deadlines.
