ABOUT THE ROLE

The Sr. Project Manager leads, plans, executes, controls, and closes on renewable energy construction projects by breaking down project requirements into manageable, executable action items and driving them to completion. You will be responsible for leading multiple project teams towards the successful execution of two Arizona-based projects totaling over 2 GWdc of solar and 8 GWh of energy storage.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead project planning and development through responsibilities such as researching development (i.e. site walks, shade studies, etc.), due diligence processes, organizing data for development proposals, estimating project costs, stakeholder management, and review of contracts and documents.
  • Mentor and assist other Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers by being technical expert for construction project management.
  • Ensure construction projects are completed according to requirements, timelines, budgets, and quality standards by developing, executing, and monitoring key constraints.
  • Research and collaborate on potential development opportunities through feasibility studies, site walks, shade studies, technology, PVSYS, and related analysis.
  • Responsible for project planning and preparation, to include diligence processes, permitting and fee management, estimating costs, organizing data/document for development proposals, and assisting in document preparation as well as design phase.
  • Maintain effective communication with all project team members, as well as ensure appropriate level of information sharing and involvement with senior leadership. In the absence of more Senior level staff, is able to provide guidance and input to Division staff on Projects.
  • Oversee subcontract management and scope development as well as insure that QA/QC processes with onsite construction managers are implemented.
  • Complete project updates, budgets, and financial reports. Approve project payables and receivables. Prepare reports for project status and financial updates.
  • Responsible for project construction through commissioning, project close out, and hand off to operations.
  • Collaborate with individual department, as well as cross-functionally with other departments within the organization.
  • Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, business, public administration, or related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction project management PLUS a minimum of 4 years of experience executing utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
  • Skills/Attributes:
    • Extensive experience leading significantly complex utility-scale renewable projects, including the unique ability to make accurate high impact decisions with little to no guidance from management.
    • Experience building and presenting project updates and putting together relevant information for Board approvals.
    • Effectively provides input on how EPC Agreements are structured, including how to improve based on past experience/lessons learned.
    • Deep understanding of cost, schedule, and scope of the project and consistently demonstrates advanced thinking and planning throughout the project lifecycle, including mentoring project team.
    • Ability to partner with senior leaders across the organization to develop process improvements, tools, and strategic input.
    • Experienced in providing effective leadership to a larger project team, including external stakeholders, and guiding towards shared goals with clear direction, support, and motivation.
    • Proven ability to build, navigate, and manage complex interpersonal relationships and conflicts, fostering collaborative relationships internally and externally.
    • Deep understanding of contractual obligations across the project lifecycle to foresee potential conflicts.
    • Self-motivated to work through complex problems and competing priorities, including a high level of detail and organization.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
