Michaels is looking for an Investment Management intern who is ready to apply their course-work to a real-world experience! The intern will assist the Investment Management team with a wide-range of responsibilities during the program. The internship will appeal to proactive and self-motivated students with a genuine desire to learn about the real estate business and industry. During the program, you will work on real projects and have real responsibilities. Michaels aims to help candidates build strengths, gain skills that can be transferred to any workplace, and stand out from the crowd!

 

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday from 9 AM - 5 PM for a total of 35 hours
  • Based out of our Camden, NJ headquarters


Highlights of the Internship include:

  • Work alongside other interns across various majors and universities
  • Learn from our more experienced team members and best-in-class leaders in the real estate community
  • Participate in company-wide and departmental meeting and events and a variety of social, professional and networking opportunities
  • As a part of the Investment Management team, the summer intern will also gain exposure to other functional departments such as property management, development, construction, acquisitions, etc. The role also provides opportunities to develop strong business acumen, quantitative, and presentation skills. You will collaborate with and learn directly from the department’s senior leadership.

 

The Investment Management Intern will work collaboratively with the Investment Management department, focusing on improving the reporting capabilities and processes, assisting with market research and business plan development, enhancing overall operational efficiency of the department, and learning about the various functional areas within the Michaels Organization. They will identify communities in need of asset management support and help develop strategic plans to improve performance. They will perform analysis and interpretation of community operating results and performance versus their business plan including understanding demand generators and key performance indicators. Lastly, they will research and report on community market data.

  • Progress towards a bachelor’s degree (preferably in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or in another quantitative or business-related field but not required)
  • Strong problems solving skills and a desire to put them to use in a meaningful way
  • The intellectual curiosity to truly learn about all aspects of our business and new tools/skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational ability
  • A diligent work ethic and desire to work in a fast-paced environment that supports a balance of independent work and team collaboration
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and presentation skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint.

Salary Range Information


The range displayed on each job posting reflects the targeted base salary for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
