Job Purpose
Under limited supervision of the Director of Community Alternatives, coordinates the placement of youth in alternative placements for the agency and assists with the youth's classification process within the community division.
Job Responsibilities
Serves as Placement Coordinator for the Midlands region.
Receives, reviews and processes placement referrals.
Provides consultation to County staff and others and attends staffing's on special cases, as appropriate.
Provides training and technical assistance to County Case Managers on placement policies, procedures, and requirements and classification coordination.
Provides support, assistance, and coordination for Short Term Alternative Placements (STAP).
Serves as an advisor and consultant and provide follow-up regarding all placements made by County Case Managers.
Maintains databases, files, and compiles reports as required or requested.
Maintains accurate records and submits placement information to the assigned Program Monitor.
Serves as the liaison with the Classification Coordinators regarding the placement of youth from the Admissions Center and Broad River Road Complex.
Works closely with facilities/Programs, County Case Managers, and the Program Monitors to provide coordination and follow-up for all youth placed.
Serves as the Placement Coordinator statewide.
Ensures policies are followed.
Performs or completes other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma and relevant program experience.
Additional Requirements
Considerable knowledge of policies and procedures relating to community programs concerned with delinquency and delinquency prevention.
Considerable knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to juvenile justice and DJJ's role within the system.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with necessary agencies, organizations and interested public or private groups as well as staff within the agency.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and other Microsoft applications.
This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, criminal justice, or related field. At least three (3) years working with community-based programs or its equivalent.
