Designer - Space Planner

About the Job
Working in support of the Furniture Sales & Project team, the Designer provides creative and technical expertise by participating in meetings with clients and preparing floor plans ranging from conceptual drawings to very accurate, detailed computer designs. Creating furniture layout specifications to help assist with sales presentations and installation quotations, the Designer is a crucial component of our Workplace Furniture team.
This position is remote, with some expectation of business travel to select client meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Meet with company sales representative and clients to gather project requirements, establish project time line, and develop project budget
- Develop creative design concepts and space plans that fulfill client requirements and conform to applicable building codes and ADA requirements
- Generate furniture plans with intelligent graphics on AutoCAD and/or including 3D’s and elevations as required
- Generate accurate furniture specifications using 2020 Cap Technologies
- Develop color schemes with material and finish selections within schedule and budget requirements
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of contract office furniture lines
- Good working knowledge of systems furniture and space planning.
- Prepare installation plans as requested
- Select architectural finishes and prepare finish plans
- Participate in and prepare furniture inventories as needed
- All other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with current AutoCAD and CAPSTUDIO/2020 TECHNOLOGIES working knowledge of PC, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Photoshop
- Ability to interpret communicated customer needs and project requirements into competent design solutions
- Strong oral, presentation, written, listening, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well with people, action-oriented, and not intimidated by deadlines, vendors or customers
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in design, or relevant work experience
- NCIDQ Certification preferred, but not required
