Seagate has an exciting opportunity for a 2025 Summer Internship in our Firmware Development Engineering team at our research and design center in Longmont, CO. This group is a multi-site team that is part of our Dataflow and Performance subsystem. We develop firmware solutions to streamline dataflow and improve performance for our enterprise and nearline products.
About The Role - You Will
Our Longmont product-design campus is nestled against the foothills with exceptional views of the Rocky Mountains. Here at work, you can grab breakfast and lunch in the on-site cafeteria or get an afternoon espresso, prepared by a professional barista. Our 1,500+ employees enjoy an active on-site experience from sporting activities (get in a few laps at lunch on our 1-mile walking path around campus, play ping-pong or volleyball, or stop in our 24- hour fitness center for a group or individual workout) to community service and many employee resource groups including Pride!, Women’s Leadership Network and a Young Professionals Network.
The estimated base wage range for this position is $24 - $35/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan. Seagate also offers Interns paid time off, including 12 holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave. The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.

About The Role - You Will
- Be part of a team who conceives, designs, develops, and tests firmware solutions for advanced engineering programs.
- Be responsible for performing duties of experiential learning project(s)
- Be responsible for developing new test scripts and/or enhancing existing test scripts to analyze drive performance under various customer workloads.
- Excellent analytical skills
- The ability to solve complex and dynamic problems
- Knowledge about structured programming
- A desire to learn
- An excellent understanding of embedded software engineering, computer architecture, memory technologies, data structure and algorithms
- Proficiency in Python scripting
- Proficiency in C or C++ programming
- Projects involving hardware & firmware interaction
- Current enrollment in Bachelors or Masters degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or Computer Science, with the intent to return to school in fall 2025
- Knowledge of data storage systems (SATA/SAS/NVMe)
- Agile knowledge and experience
- Experience using code development tools (emulators, debuggers & trace, version control systems, compilers, linkers, and analyzers)
- Software performance analysis and optimization skills
