Job Description: Business Manager, The Spine Institute Surgical Center

As the Business Manager, you will play a crucial role in fulfilling this commitment, aligning with our vision to provide outstanding care for patients and their families. Key Responsibilities
- Patient Experience Leadership: Champion a culture that prioritizes patient safety and satisfaction, utilizing Novant Health's First Do No Harm (NHFDNH) principles and error prevention strategies.
- Team Management: Oversee the business office staff, ensuring effective operations in insurance verification, compliance, surgical scheduling, and transcription of operative procedures in alignment with facility policies and objectives.
- Financial Oversight: Coordinate billing, coding, and accounts receivable with external partners. Maintain accounts payable records and supervise supply payments, including monitoring back orders.
- Payroll and Data Management: Monitor payroll processes and ensure the security of daily backups of computer files, maintaining compliance with organizational protocols.
- Recruitment and Staffing: Lead efforts in attracting and retaining qualified personnel, fostering a positive work environment that supports professional growth.
- Facility Representation: Promote a positive image of the surgical center to physicians, patients, insurance providers, and the community.
- Education:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field (Preferred)
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years in a medical facility or medical business office (Required)
- Certifications:
- Relevant business office training or courses (Required)
- Skills:
- Strong ethical standards and moral character
- Supervisory experience and proven leadership abilities
- Solid accounting background in a healthcare setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and automated billing systems
- Familiarity with managed care systems, including Medicare and Medicaid
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of medical terminology and coding practices
- Philosophy & Ethics:
- Uphold the facility's mission, values, and ethical standards. Act as a role model for team members and support patient rights.
- Communication:
- Foster positive and respectful interactions with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff. Ensure clear, effective communication across all channels.
- Supervisory Duties:
- Directly supervise business office personnel, conducting performance evaluations and maintaining personnel records. Ensure efficient and accurate completion of all business office tasks.
- Compliance & Performance Improvement:
- Contribute to compliance initiatives and performance improvement programs, staying current on federal and state regulations.
- Financial Practices:
- Oversee financial transactions, ensuring adherence to accounting principles. Collaborate with management to analyze costs and improve financial efficiencies.
- Accounts Payable Management:
- Evaluate purchasing procedures and ensure compliance with regulations. Approve payments and monitor accounts to leverage discounts.
- Scheduling and Medical Records:
- Oversee scheduling for optimal patient flow and ensure accurate maintenance of medical records, protecting confidentiality and compliance.
- Credentialing:
- Collaborate with credentialing entities to ensure timely reapplications and maintain current records of staff qualifications.
